Privacy Policy
Car Podgorica · Podgorica, Montenegro
This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information passes through this website when you compare and reserve a hire car in Podgorica, why we handle it, whom it is shared with and which rights you can exercise over it. It is written with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent data-protection laws in mind. Reading it takes about four minutes; if anything remains unclear afterwards, the contact details are in section 10.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller for the processing described on this page is the operator of podgoricahirecar.com, trading as Car Podgorica, which runs this comparison service for car hire in Podgorica, Montenegro. The quickest way to reach us on any privacy matter is by email at [email protected]. Note that once a reservation is confirmed, the booking platform and the rental company you selected process your details under their own privacy notices and act as controllers for that part of the journey.
2. What we collect
Three kinds of information arise here. First, search parameters: the pickup location, dates and times you enter to see available cars — on their own these do not identify you. Second, booking details: when you go ahead and reserve, the form asks for your name, email address and phone number, and those details travel to our booking partner and onwards to the rental supplier so that the car can actually be prepared and handed over to you. Third, technical data generated automatically by your visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the approximate time you spend on them.
3. Why we use it and on what legal basis
Booking details are processed because they are necessary to perform the service you have asked for — without a name and a way to contact you, no supplier in Podgorica can confirm a car (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Technical data is processed under our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site running, defending it against abuse and understanding which pages genuinely help visitors, so we can improve them. Where the law requires it — most obviously for non-essential cookies or similar technologies — we rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time without affecting earlier processing.
4. Who receives your data
Personal data leaves this site for exactly two business reasons: it goes to the reservation platform we partner with, and from there to the local rental company you chose, both strictly to fulfil your booking. Beyond that, we use ordinary technical service providers — hosting, content delivery and security — who process data on our behalf under contract. We do not sell personal data, we do not rent out mailing lists, and we do not hand your details to advertisers.
5. International transfers
Because you may be booking from anywhere in the world for a car in Montenegro, your information can be processed in countries other than your own, including countries outside the European Economic Area. Where such transfers happen, we and our providers rely on recognised safeguards — an adequacy decision where one exists, or standard contractual clauses and equivalent measures where it does not — so that your data keeps a comparable level of protection wherever it is handled.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as the purpose it was collected for still exists. Server and security logs containing IP addresses are rotated after a short period. Correspondence you send us is retained while your enquiry is open and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you follow up. Reservation records held by the booking platform and the supplier follow their own retention schedules, which may include legal obligations to keep invoices and rental agreements for several years.
7. Your rights
Data-protection law gives you a set of rights over information about you: the right to access a copy of it, to have inaccurate data rectified, to request erasure, to restrict processing in certain situations, to receive data you provided in a portable machine-readable format, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. To exercise any of these, email us — we may need to verify your identity first, and we answer within the statutory deadline. If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, either where you live or where the issue occurred.
8. Cookies
Like almost every booking-related website, this one uses cookies and similar technologies: a small essential set that keeps searches and the reservation flow working, and optional ones that help us see how the site is used. Which cookies are set, how long they live and how you can refuse or delete them is described separately in our Cookie Policy, which forms part of this notice.
9. Security
All traffic between your browser and this site is encrypted with TLS, access to systems that could contain personal data is limited to those who need it, and our infrastructure providers apply their own certified security programmes. No online service can promise absolute security, but we choose partners and configurations with the aim of keeping the small amount of data we handle safe, and we would inform you and the relevant authority of any breach as the law requires.
10. Changes and contact
We will amend this policy whenever our tools, partners or legal obligations change, and the date below always shows the current version. Meaningful changes will not be applied retroactively to data collected under an earlier version without a proper basis. Questions, requests or concerns about privacy at Car Podgorica are all handled through [email protected].
